“Mr. Lin, thank you for your time,”James开门见山,“Let’s get straight to the point. You are 25 years old, Vice President of Huawei’s Central Research Institute. Many people find this hard to believe. How did you achieve this so quickly?”(林先生,感谢您的时间。
“Mr. Wilson, in Huawei, age is not the most important factor. What matters is what you can do,”他从容回答,“In the past year, I led the ‘SkyNet’ project, which deployed intelligent optimization platforms for 12,000 base stations across Guangdong province. I solved a critical equipment failure issue in Moscow at minus 25 degrees Celsius, saving a $200 million contract. And I’m now leading a pany-wide research initiative on ‘global environmental adaptability’. These are not titles given, but results earned.”(威尔逊先生,在华为,年龄不是最重要的因素。
James快速记录,然后问:“But surely being so young must have caused some resistance? Older engineers, more experienced managers... how do you deal with that?”(但如此年轻肯定会引起一些阻力吧?
“Resistance exists in any organization,”林辰微笑,“The key is to focus on the work itself. When we were on that rooftop in Moscow, no one cared about my age. They only cared whether we could fix the problem. When we present solid technical solutions in meetings, people listen because of the ideas, not the age of the speaker.”(任何组织都存在阻力。
他顿了顿:“In fact, Huawei has many young leaders. Our founder, Mr. Ren, often says: ‘Give young people a chance, they will surprise you.’”(实际上,华为有很多年轻领导者。
James点点头,换了个话题:“Let’s talk about the petition between China and the U.S. in telemunications. Huawei is expanding rapidly overseas. Do you see this as a technological petition, or something more?”(我们来谈谈中美在通信领域的竞争。
Huawei’s goal is to provide better munication solutions to customers around the world. We pete with Ericsson, Nokia, Cisco—not with countries. Healthy petition drives innovation, which benefits everyone.”(技术无国界。
